Your ActivityWatch data, sorted and on every device.
ActivityWatch records every window on your computer and keeps it on that computer. Chronos syncs it to a dashboard you can open anywhere, merges it with your browser tabs, and sorts it into zones with rules.
What the sync does
- Away-from-keyboard time from aw-watcher-afk is subtracted before anything is sent
- Only settled events are sent, so durations are final and never grow after the fact
- Browser windows are split by tab when the Chronos extension or aw-watcher-web is running, and nothing is counted twice
- Rules on app, window title, domain or URL sort every event into zones like Deep Work and Rest
- Backfill the last few weeks in one command without disturbing the live sync
- Windows scheduled task, macOS LaunchAgent or Linux systemd timer, set up by one command
Set up in three steps
- Start your free trial and open Integrations.
- Copy the one-line install command for your OS. Your token and Chronos address are already filled in.
- Paste it into a terminal. The status turns green when the first events land.
No ActivityWatch yet? On Windows the installer sets it up for you.
Questions
Do I have to stop using ActivityWatch?
No. ActivityWatch keeps recording on your machine exactly as before. Chronos reads its buckets through the local API and sends a copy of the finished events to your Chronos account.
What does the sync script need?
Python 3 and a running ActivityWatch. The script uses only the Python standard library, so there is nothing to pip install. The one-line installer sets up the scheduled sync for you.
Will it send the same events twice?
No. Every slice carries a stable id, so re-runs, restarts and backfills store each event once.
Does it upload screenshots or keystrokes?
ActivityWatch does not record those and neither does Chronos. The sync sends app names, window titles, times and, from the browser extension, URLs.
